Influences: John Petrucci (Dream Theater), Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree), Misha Mansoor (Periphery)
I think the only thing that I’ve truly figured out so far in my life is that my purpose is to play guitar and make music.
I grew up in Albany, New York and was subjected to progressive rock/metal the day I was born. My parents love music and it is incredibly important to them, and their favorite music is progressive rock/metal. As a little kid I would dance in the living room while my dad watched Yes concerts, and whenever I’d be in the car with my mom Porcupine Tree would be blasting. Once I got a little older, and could understand the music better, I started to really dig in to Dream Theater’s music. I was absolutely blown away and had never felt anything like how the music made me feel. From that moment, there was no turning back, and I knew I wanted to devote my life to this music.
I started playing guitar/bass during middle school. It became apparent that nothing in life came easier to me than playing guitar, and that I enjoyed nothing else more. I became obsessed with playing guitar and music, and spent so much time practicing. My love for playing the guitar evolved into a love for writing music, which is my truest passion.
I joined the jazz band in high school, which inspired me to study jazz on the guitar. I got my bachelor’s degree from the College of Saint Rose for Music Industry, and spent most of my time learning even more styles and with playing with several different kinds of musicians. In the past five years, I’ve played in several different musical outfits; wedding bands, cover bands, in the pit for musicals, even a ska band. However, at the end of it all, nothing could trump my love for metal. It is truly my favorite thing on the planet, and there’s nothing I want to do more than immerse myself in metal and Last To Fall…..
